A new die concept, ProPak, in combination with the new cooling ring WesJet II and ENTRAC, allows for high outputs and better gauge tolerances on Davis-Standard’s ProSack, a three-layer coextrusion blown film machine for shipping sack applications. ProSack can run various LDPE, LLDPE and mLLDPE resins.
A key component of the ProSack line is the 60mm 30:1 L/D, air-cooled MAC extruders, that have one common remote blower that draws room air over the barrel heater through the plenum base into an exhaust duct. Cooling air is regulated by a damper valve under each zone, providing a simple, low maintenance solution. The key process advantage is the significant reduction in gauge-affecting drafts on the bubble and a highly responsive barrel cooling system.
